The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences proudly bestows its coveted Five-Star Diamond Award to Puerto Rico’s Destilería Serrallés for DonQ Gran Añejo.
The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences (AAHS) just doesn’t give its Five-Star rating to any rum; in fact they found only one worthy enough of this honor: Don Q Gran Añejo. This prestigious honor will be presented at an exclusive gala at the historic Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico in San Juan on September 14, 2011. Don Q Gran Añejo is the first rum ever to receive this rare distinction, reserved for the greatest achievements in travel, hospitality products and services.
The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences Board of Trustees recognized in Destilería Serrallés for Don Q Gran Añejo exceptional quality and character commensurate with the world’s finest hotels, resorts, restaurants & chefs which have been previously honored with the Five-Star Diamond Award.
Handcrafted in small-batches using a state-of-the-art “green” process, Gran Añejo boasts a robust nose of molasses, cigar tobacco and dark caramel with notes of vanilla, cinnamon and honey, perfect for sipping along with a cigar. This is a unique blend of rums aged from 3 to 12 years in American white oak and Sherry barrels using the Solera Aging System. It is the finest expression of the Serrallés 145 year family rum making tradition and was introduced to commemorate Christopher Columbus’ second voyage during which he discovered Puerto Rico. The most discerning clientele would expect to enjoy a spirit of this world-class caliber in all highly acclaimed establishments. Don Q Gran Añejo’s hand-crafted, artisanal and rich heritage qualities as well as its sustainable processes were essential to the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences Board of Trustees in awarding its highest accolade.
