The Sailor Jerry team heads to London to open a rum bar, music venue, gallery and clothing store all under one roof. Here are the details.
We’ve been hearing whispers about it for weeks and the official word has finally come in. London is getting its very own Sailor Jerry pop-up bar, gallery and clothing store. The venue will be called Hotel Street, paying homage to the seedy strip in Honolulu where Norm “Sailor Jerry” Collins got his start. They are scheduled to open their doors on April 19th and will have a limited three month run.
By day, the space at 120 Charing Cross Road will act as a store and gallery featuring the popular Sailor Jerry clothing line of t-shirts and jeans. The gallery space will showcase over 75 rare pieces of tattoo flash art drawn and painted by Collins. The exhibit is currated by Henk Schiffmacher of the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum and it’s the first time the works have been in Europe.
By night, the club level of Hotel Street will transform into a dive bar and music venue featuring live bands and great cocktails. Of course, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum will be featured in a long list of old-school drinks and several new creations made by some of the cities best bartenders.
The store and gallery will hold daytime hours from Tuesday-Sunday and the bar will be open from noon with gigs lasting until midnight. Remember, London rummies, this is only a three month engagement. Don’t miss it!
