imageHouston’s 4th Annual Caribbean RumFest is rapidly approaching and is shaping up to be even more thrilling than last year’s event. With a new location, more music, vendors, and rum spirits, the event is sure to be the biggest Houston has ever seen. Celebrate National Rum Day (August 16, 2014) by kicking off a two day stretch of Caribbean festivities at Jones Plaza.

The event is in the heart of Downtown Houston. As the centerpiece of Houston’s vivacious Theater District, the square-block plaza has long been the site of popular concert series and the venue for many civic events, and concerts. With its fully renovated grounds and easy access, Jones Plaza makes the perfect venue for the Caribbean RumFest.

A much anticipated event amongst a diverse crowd of rum enthusiasts, travel buffs, Caribbean music, cuisine and culture lovers, the 4th Annual Caribbean RumFest offers festival goers two days of tastings and samplings of the finest rum labels, premium cocktails and a stellar line-up of live music and Caribbean entertainment. The festival also features rousing activities such as rum-infused Caribbean cooking demonstrations and cook-off contests, Bartender Flair Competition, Caribbean Rum History and a number of art and specialty product vendors.

Tickets for the 4th Annual Caribbean RumFest can be purchased at http://rumfesthtx.eventbrite.com. Along with General Admission and VIP ticket options, the festival offers “Designated Driver” passes. “Designated Driver” ticket buyers will receive T-Shirts upon entry indicating that they are intended designated drivers in an effort to promote responsible drinking during the two-day event. You must be 21 years of age or older to attend this event.

The Caribbean RumFest exists to showcase, promote, celebrate, and educate the community and visitors about the history and culture of the Caribbean and Rum Spirits through the provision of its festivities. Its aim is to be a sustainable and effective festival that is recognized as a significant contributor to the economic social and environmental fabric of the city and community.

A portion of the proceeds of the 4th Annual Caribbean RumFest will go to support Roots Family Services, a family restoration organization dedicated to restoring and assisting the family units of Houston.
