One Love Cocktail

Those of you who are Rum Connection regulars know that we love simple-to-make drinks.  Here’s one of our favorites with a Jamaican twist – the One Love Cocktail.
One Love, One Heart
Let’s get together and feel all right
One Love, One Heart
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
Sayin’ let’s get together and feel all right

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks
(One Love)
There is one question I’d really like to ask
(One Heart)
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own?
Believe me
Bob Marley & The Wailers – 1965

One Love is a reggae anthem that Bob Marley originally recored in 1965 on the album The Wailing Wailers.  In 1977 a reworked version of the song appeared on the popular album Exodus and became a huge international hit.
The One Love cocktail is the last installment in a series of drinks created by Adam Kanter for the Bob Marley celebration at Rum Bar in Philadelphia.  It is as simple and satisfying as the song with just three ingredients.  Good rum, ginger ale and lime – an old caribbean classic.  Enjoy!
1 1/2 oz Appleton Reserve
4 oz Ginger Ale
Squeeze of Lime
Instructions – Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled Old Fashioned glass and stir.  Add a squeeze of lime.  Now, relax and enjoy (preferably at a beach or other breezy location with a view of boats).
….and don’t forget to read our review of Rum Bar and pay them a visit next time you’re in Philly.
