Lost Spirits Aging Reactor

Lost Spirits Technologies develops a patented process utilizing its THEA One reactor to create a superior new generation of spirits.

_______________________________

imageLost Spirits Technologies announces today that it has successfully scaled its experimental distilled spirits aging system and is preparing to begin a nationwide rollout of the revolutionary new technology in October 2015. The system will be implemented through the use of small, portable aging reactors dubbed the THEA One. THEA One offers a revolutionary, state of the art way of designing and engineering the quality of aged spirits, and will be installed in craft distilleries across the country.

In April of 2015, Lost Spirits announced that it had successfully replicated the chemical signature and taste profile of 20-year-old rum in a laboratory setting. Since then, the engineering team has been working around the clock to create a scaled working reactor that is capable of producing spirits at commercially viable quantities. Today this task has been accomplished.

Lost Spirits currently has 65 distilleries on its waiting list and is in talks to potentially implement the technology on a grand scale with multinational spirits partners.

Lost Spirits will be hosting private media tours to showcase the THEA One and her capabilities at the notoriously secretive Lost Spirit hilltop laboratory throughout September. Interested parties may inquire for a sneak peek at the first THEA One models. For those who cannot attend, media kits can also be requested which contain samples and equipment overview using Google Cardboard in VR.

Tech: PourTaste App

Have you been looking for the best craft cocktail bar in your area? The PourTaste App has you covered.

________________________________________

PourTaste is one of the most in-depth and trusted cocktail house locators on the market. Whether you’re looking for prohibition-era classics or modern and innovative chef driven libations, PourTaste gives you an all inclusive 50 state database of the best drinking establishments in America. The first of its kind, PourTaste also includes a Drink of the Week program using recipes from participating venues that you can enjoy while out or at home!

Functionally, this app operates off of a 5 star rating system. By virtue of being included in the database, all restaurants and bars here are better than your average watering hole. The 5 stars reflect the intensity at which any establishment focuses on its cocktail program. It does not reflect anything about the overall menu (though most establishments included are also chasing local, organic and sustainable food handed by impeccable service).

1 star will reflect the places that, though it’s not their sole identity, offer a few drinks with historical relevance and/or some forward thinking flavor profile behind it. Work you’re way up the rating system to the 5 star joints and these are the places that are leading the imbibing culture daily, embracing the sole identity as a cocktail aficionados haunt, making everything, besides the liquor (and sometimes that), in house. House cordials, house bitters, house syrups, house tonics, house sodas, house everything.

We live in an amazing age of the cocktail. While having a grand scope of a much respected past, bartenders and chefs alike are pushing the envelope for flavor, quality and detail in everything they serve. This is the new norm. PourTaste is shining a much needed light on it.

Here are the specifics: From the master bartenders behind New York City’s Milk & Honey comes Bartender’s Choice, the definitive classic cocktail app for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Search through hundreds of recipes by spirit, style of drink or sensation. Ideal for home use or in any establishment wanting to serve better cocktails. Includes tips on ice, garnish, syrups, shaking & stirring.

Tech: Mixed Cocktails App

Jamie Oliver and Bacardi Rum team up to create a “one-stop-shop” for home mixology.

_________________________________

imageBacardi is leading the way to simplify cocktail-making with two new platforms designed to make it easy for consumers to create their own cocktails. Through a fully integrated, cross-portfolio partnership with Jamie Oliver Group, the family-owned drinks company is poised to bring the art of cocktail making to the food and drink DIY-ers who want to learn how to make their favorite cocktails at home. With the introduction of the Bacardi Mixed Cocktails app and MixedCocktails.com website, at-home hosts will now have the savvy to expertly craft their favorite cocktails at their fingertips.

“Bacardi aims to provide people with the drinks know-how, inspiration and tools they need to experiment and have a go at creating great-tasting cocktails at home using their favorite brands,” says Andy Gibson, Chief Marketing Officer of Bacardi and President of Bacardi Global Brands. “There are more occasions where people are entertaining at home and we want to make those experiences more enjoyable, as well as delicious.”

For 14 years, chef and campaigner Jamie Oliver has made cooking delicious food accessible to the home chef through his many television series, best-selling cookbooks, Jamie magazine, and most recently, the online FoodTube series. Now, he has turned his attention to the joy of cocktail-making and as a result he has joined up with Bacardi to foster the ever-growing cocktail culture and bring the fine art of cocktail making to kitchens everywhere.

The first result of the new partnership between Bacardi and the Jamie Oliver Group is the launch of DrinksTube, the companion YouTube channel to FoodTube. Bacardi is the exclusive spirits partner for DrinksTube and will co-create content that features various Bacardi Brand Ambassadors, mixologists and bartenders. The new channel is targeted directly at consumers who are searching online for cocktail information and inspiration. Each Friday, a new cocktail segment will debut on the channel, featuring classic cocktails designed by top Bacardi bartender Simone Caporale.

The partnership will also feature monthly content in Jamie Magazine and on jamieoliver.com, beginning with a series of Italian inspired recipes from Giuseppe Gallo. Additionally, Bacardi spirits will feature on the new cocktail menus in Jamie’s Italian restaurants in the UK (33 doors) and five locations internationally, delivering significant menu presence for Bacardi drinks and increased pouring rights for Bacardi products.

“We have an amazing opportunity through this partnership with Bacardi and its iconic brands to wake up the world to how easy it is to create quality drinks — classic or new,” says Jamie Oliver. “We want to inspire everyone with the passion to be more adventurous in their own homes, to realize that we can all be ‘home mixologists’ and to have fun with ingredients and flavors.”

___________________________________________________

Rum brands launching smartphone apps is all the rage.  Some of them are useful, some are just silly, but most of them are well designed and good for a mild dose of amusement.  Sailor Jerry brand has just entered the mix with a photo app that will virtually ink up the user with one of the Sailor’s legendary old school tattoos.  Here are the details.

Take a photo and “ink it” with Sailor Jerry tattoo flash. Use your camera to preview a tattoo live – or put it on a pic from your library.

Slide through the tattoo gallery. Tap to select your art. Then drag it into position. To resize, pinch/pull. Use two fingers to rotate it, and even adjust the saturation. (Can you go back and add more tats to the same photo? Hell yeah!)

When you get it how you like it, snap your photo, save it, and post it to Facebook, Twitter, e-mail your friends…whatever you want.

If you want to make it permanent, send it to one of our favorite Sailor Jerry tattoo artists using the “Find An Artist” feature.

Have at it!

Captain’s Conquest

For all you gamers out there… Embark on the timeless pursuit of life, love and loot with the new mobile game from Captain Morgan Spiced Rum.

_____________________________________________________

Today, the makers of Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum released Captain’s Conquest, a groundbreaking mobile social game that rewards players for real-life exploration, adventure and social influence by transforming cities into the open seas and encouraging players to navigate Captain Henry Morgan’s world. The Captain’s Conquest mobile game is available for free download in both Android Market and the Apple App Store.

The goal of the game is to rise through the ranks—from a Stowaway to the Captain of your own powerful fleet—ruling the high seas and reaping rewards through skilled digital game-play and adventurous behavior in the real world. Players will earn points and gain status by successfully mastering the in-game battle mode, conquering territory by checking in at real world locations and using the scope to scan Captain Morgan bottles.

At the onset of the game, players are given command of a ship, the initial size of which is determined by their influence on social platforms such as Facebook, Foursquare and Twitter. In the Captain’s world, size matters, as the magnitude of a player’s ship and the adornments acquired during their adventures influence their success in battle, and ultimately their rank.

Using GPS and location-based technologies, the game populates the map screen with visual representations of other players’ ships in the area. Players have the option to interact with those around them by challenging enemy ships to battle.

“Social mobile gaming is exploding in popularity and Captain’s Conquest is a relevant and unexpected way for the Captain Morgan brand to connect with our adult fans in a medium where they are proactively seeking new and exciting experiences,” said Tom Herbst, Director of Marketing, Rums at Diageo. “This mobile game creates an exciting and entertaining brand experience for our loyal fans by showcasing the Captain’s legacy and adventurous spirit via a 21st century medium.”

Developed by Unit 9, an award-winning, UK-based digital creative production company, the Captain’s Conquest mobile game pushes the graphics capabilities of both the Android and iOS platforms, creating high-impact visuals.

Bundaberg IngeniOmeter App

Bundaberg Rum Co. has released an amusing new iPhone app called IngeniOmeter aimed at determining whether the user is top shelf or bottom of the barrel.

___________________________________________________

The maker of Bundaberg Rum has released its first-ever smart phone application, a program used to gauge people’s ingenuity – in the spirit of the company’s historic millers.

With Victorian-styling in a nod to the origins of the company, the ingeniOmeter is a fusion of steam punk mechanical innovation and modern-age digital wizardry.

A spokesperson for the company said the application was an example of Bundaberg’s ingenuity and opened a portal to a world previously hidden from human eyes.

Using your photograph, and a series of questions, the application gauges whether one possesses the “ingenuity of a Bundy miller” or “oozes the ineptitude of a fungal cheese”.

In addition, the application can help the user select a Bundaberg Rum product and suggest which tipple would best whet their whistle.

A cocktail function also offers users the recipe to a variety of Bundaberg dark and white rum-inspired cocktails.
