The 2nd annual Rum Fest in Trinidad attracted thousands in search of knowledge, history and a cocktail or two made with the locals favorite, Angostura.
Rum Festival Highlights Angostura
Angostura, the company that produces the world famous Aromatic Bitters and premium line of rums held its second annual Rum Festival at their facilities in Trinidad during Tourism month, September 16th – 18th. It was a tremendous success as people from all over the island came to taste locally made rums that are well-known around the world.
Rum has always enthralled the passions of mankind and it’s no surprise that thousands of patrons visited the Festival, eager to learn more about the products, the history of Rum and that of the company. Tours to the distillery were offered several times each day as well as lectures by Master Distiller John Georges and cooking sessions by some of the islands best known chefs who demonstrated how to make several local dishes with rum.
Angostura’s international rum portfolio has won a total of 11 Rum Masters Awards with two in 2009, four in 2010 and five at this year’s awards ceremony, the most of any global rum company.
This year, Angostura was awarded the highly coveted Master’s Medal for Angostura 1824 and Angostura 7 Year Old, while gold medals were given to Angostura 1919, Angostura 5 Year Old and Angostura Reserva.
As sterling a track record as Angostura has in the rum industry, the company is more than that, it has become a Trinidadian icon, a favorite of rum lovers worldwide and Royal Warrant holder to the household of the Queen of England. The rum festival will take place annually at the House of Angostura so start making plans for 2012.
