Ron de Jeremy

Ron de Jeremy

Porn industry veteran Ron Jeremy is releasing an aged rum from Panama called Ron de Jeremy.  Yes, seriously.  Here’s what we’ve heard so far.

With over 1000 films in his portfolio, 57 year old adult film star Ron Jeremy plans to branch out into the world of fine spirits with the launch of a new Panamanian rum sporting his name.  The 7 year old rum is called Ron de Jeremy and will be distributed by parent company One Eyed Spirits.   It is set to be released in a very limited series of numbered bottles.

Now, you may expect this to be inferior rum made exclusively for the novelty market, but we anticipate better quality from Ron de Jeremy.  In fact they’ve enlisted well-seasoned Master Blender “Don Pancho” for this project.  He’s the guru behind some very impressive rums from Havana Club, Abuelo and Zafra.

RondeJeremy.com has this to say about the launch: “Ron de Jeremy is exceptionally smooth 7-year old rum from Panama. It is created by another legend, a 72-year old Cuban Master Blender Francisco “Don Pancho” Fernandez. Ron de Jeremy tastes perfect naked with nothing added and works equally great as a mixer. It is the adult rum.”  They’re taking pre-orders at the website for those interested in getting their hands on one of the first bottles.

Stay tuned for more on this one.

here come the puns: goes down smooth; creamy texture with a big fat long woody finish that lasts a long time.

  2. Z-bo Says:

Liquor seems like such a more obvious profession for Ron. How the hell did a fat, hairy, short guy ever get so successful in porn anyway? ;) I’m gonna get me a bottle of Ron de!

  3. Ruminsky van Drunkenburg Says:

    Yup. Coming soon. >>Sigh<<

I'm still trying to get a read on Mr Fernandez, the supposed Master Blender who's lending his street cred to this one. I'm not entirely convinced this isn't just a marketing ploy which will fizzle out once the rum actually comes out. Anyone else has a comment on this?

  4. Olli Hietalahti Says:

    Mr Drunkenburg,
I understand Mr Jeremy creates controversial thoughts, he is not to everybody’s liking. But there is no need to question Mr Ferndandez’ skills or involvement in the project. We are extremely happy with the product he has created for us. Mr. Fernandez has over 40 years of experience in creating fine rums, the most recent example being Zafra Master Reserve 21 years which won the Best New Rum Brand in Golden Rum Barrel. Mr. Fernadez is a great rum maker and a great old world gentleman. Please do not insult him.

    All the best,

Olli Hietalahti, CEO One Eyed Spirits

  5. Paul Artrip 'The Rum Daddy' Says:

As an acolyte of both rum and rum history, I have to enthusiastically applaud this new product line from Senor Fernandez (who never makes a bad rum). Rum was not born of prudes and proper people; rum’s dynamic birthright is one of revolution, creativity, crime, passion, commodity speculation, skullduggery and smuggling. For every staid businessman you can document in rum’s past, there are legions more of merchant princes, pirates, artists, mobsters, Dickensian rags-to-riches characters, privateers, bootleggers, politicians, you name it. Today, we see musicians and performers who initially showed only the crudest and basest of values rise to entrepreneur status and embrace or create quality spirits. Ah, the creativity of the Americas!!!

  6. Ruminsky Van Drunkenburg Says:

    Mr. Hietalahti

I’m not questioning that Mr. Fernandez has a sterling professional resume – although everything I have read seems to be a rehash of the same press release. So let’s leave aside insinuations that I’m trying to insult the man – nothing of the kind. I just want to know more.

What I am asking is what else he has done *besides* the Zafra 21 everyone else is quoting as his claim to fame. Because if there are other blends or marques to which he has lent his expertise, and these were discussed and named openly, then I would get a better feeling about his involvement, rather than my suspicion that it’s just another marketing ploy meant to boost sales (or prices).

If it’s anyone I’m taking issue with, then, it’s the mover and shakers behind this rum, who seem to think it’s okay to take an old world gentleman and cynically use his street cred to endorse and stand behind a rum whose name is based on a crude sexual innuendo quite at odds with the gentleman’s own reputation.

As to Mr. Jeremy, well, he has a right to make a buck the same way as everyone else. Since he has had no other previous involvement with spirits, we can safely say he is a figurehead dreamed up by some clever marketing fellow, and he picks up a nice paycheque for lending his face and, umm, his other attributes, to this rum.

Lastly, if this rum ever crosses my path, I’ll certainly review it honestly and without reference to its makers’ reputations. Like any other premium spirit, it will stand and fall on its own merits, not that of the face in front of, or the maker behind, the label.

  7. Olli Hietalahti Says:

Thank you Paul, I could not have put it better myself.

    Mr Drunkenburg,

I have to say I really enjoy this conversation. Thank you for stirring it up. As one of the “movers and shakers or clever marketing fellows” let me clarify our intentions. We do believe, and as also this discussion demonstrates, that we have interesting and thought provoking marketing concept. Ron means Rum and the most famous Ron is Ron Jeremy. Simple.

To back up that, like you correctly said the rum needs to stand and fall on its own merits. Hence Don Pancho. I’m sure there are many other great rum makers who could have done Ron de Jeremy for us but our paths happened to cross with Don Pancho. He fully knows the nature of marketing concept and is aware of the exposure he is going to get. Nothing cynical about that.

Every product is designed to be sold. So is this one, I sincerely hope the involvement of both Mr Jeremy and Mr Fernandez will boost the sales!

Please send me your contacts and I will make sure you and Ron de Jeremy will meet. Until then Cheers!

    All the best,

    Olli Hietalahti

  8. Ruminsky Van Drunkenburg Says:

    Mr. Hietalahti

To be honest, I’m enjoying this conversation as well, and am glad that it’s stayed temperate.

If you could send me an email address to liquorature@gmail.com, I’ll be happy to provide contact details.

    Regards

    R. van D.

  9. Tracy S Says:

Okay, if he just started doing porn today. . .it wouldn’t happen. Check out the pictures of him as a younger man. Not bad at all. Hard to picture, but not bad. And what does that have to do with the natural evolution of his interests?? Okay he’s not a big turn on, but he is a party guy and has aged himself. Why wouldn’t he go into something like production and sales of rum?? Personally, I can’t wait to try it!

  10. Hue G. Rection Says:

I am going to buy a bottle of Ron De Jeremy I hope this rum is well aged smooth and tastes of wood I would also much care for a creamy texture.. but not taste.
