Sounds like an odd one. And also a bit of an odd choice for Rum Connection if he dismisses rum out of hand.

True, DeVoto does not seem to have been a rum devotee (sorry) and he favored bars without stools. Weird. But his commentary on the drinking culture of the 1940′s is awesome.
