Another local rum for Texas, Tanduay enters the US, Brugal gets a makeover and more in this week’s news.

Business Inquirer reports: “Tanduay, the hard liquor unit of the Lucio Tan group, announced last week that it had mandated a team to lead the introduction of Tanduay Asian Rum to the US market.”

The Dominican Republic’s popular Brugal line of rums gets a makeover complete with reworked label art and a sleek new bottle. Check it out at Packaging Europe.

Jem Beverage Company of Carrollton, TX adds a new rum product to their line of micro-distilled spirits that currently include two vodkas and a whiskey.  Stingray Spiced Rum hits the local market.  Dallas Observer has the story.

“The Natchez Planning Commission approved Wednesday an amendment to the city’s development code to add micro-distillery and micro-winery to the definition of micro-brewery and allow the businesses in the B-3, B-4 and in the city and by special exception in the B-2 and waterfront districts.” The Sun Herald has the scoop.
